5 Nutritious Fruits That You Should Include In Your Daily Diet

They say that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Well, turns out an apple alone won’t do the trick. You need an apple and many more species of fruits to stay healthy. All freshest and healthiest foods and drinks you take throughout the day should be accompanied by one or two types of fruits. Many people will take their fruits in form of smoothies and juice to reduce sugar content but did you know that when you grind or blend your fruits, it actually kills most of the important nutrients like Vitamin C, potassium and dietary fibre? The best way to take all your fruits is in their natural form. That means that instead of making some mango or orange juice, simply peel off if necessary and consume all succulent parts. Furthermore, this option is less tiresome. So which are these fruits that doctors insist should be included in your daily diet?

Mangoes

They aren’t always in season but when they are, ensure that you enjoy them while they last. An average sized mango contains 5g fibre not forgetting potassium, calcium, magnesium and a whole lot of Vitamins A and C. You only need one every day as they contain a little bit more calories than most fruits.

Pomegranate

Half a cup of these seeds is enough to keep you going. One pomegranate contains about 72 calories, 1g fat, 16g carbs and 1.4 g protein. They are a bit difficult to eat especially to those who do not like crunching on seeds but the taste outweighs the texture.

Guavas

Not a favourite to many but once you learn about the benefits, I promise you’ll run to the grocery store to get some. Guavas are high in fiber, niacin and Vitamins A, B-3, B-6,C and K. If you are looking for a fruit to detoxify your body, guavas can do the trick with the help of an antioxidant called lycopene. Just like mangoes, guavas are seasonal fruits.

Oranges

The good thing with oranges is that they are always in plenty. Consuming an average sized orange daily will give your body 0.2g fat, 15.4g carbs, 1.2g protein and 62 calories. They are good sources of Vitamin A and C and minerals such as potassium and calcium.

Avocados

When dieting, one of the things you should minimize is fat. This is probably why many are not consuming avocados but the kind of fat this fruit contains is the healthy type. You only need a cup of sliced avocados to get 10g fiber, vitamin B-5, C and K not forgetting some potassium.

If you have not been taking your fruits as regularly as you should, you can see just how many good nutrients you have been denying your body. Some people say that fruits are healthy so eating a lot of them is perfectly okay. However, too much of anything is always poisonous. A fruit like Avocado contains healthy fats but if over-consumed, they can raise fat levels in the body. Oranges on the other hand can cause heartburns due to its acidic nature. So even as you take your fruits, watch your portions.
