TAP Portugal Airlines Fashion Review – Fashion in Flight

 

They sure know how to accessorize!

 

 

That was this travel writer’s thought as she took in the variety of uniforms worn by the TAP Portugal flight attendants.  How unlike the starched uniforms you see the flight staff on other airlines sometimes seeming to struggle to keep on their bodies.  Here was not one uniform but a palette of related designs that let the long leggy flight attendant show-off, but didn’t encumber the plumper one to try to straddle herself in kind.  How comfortable they looked..

 

 

…and how stylish! 

 

 

It was the perky hat worn by one, the colorful sweater worn by another, the crisp leather gloves, the knee-high boots – i.e. it was the accessories that allowed these uniforms to make an impression.

 

 

Old news perhaps for TAP Portugal Airlines that commissioned these uniforms from the famed Portuguese “Manuel” designers – viz. Manuel Alves and Manuel Gonçalves – in 2008.

 

 

To a newbie first-time visitor to Portugal on a first-time TAP flight these looks were new—and striking. 

 

They said—“Get ready for Lisbon.  It’s a fashionable place you know…”
