CES® 2016 Las Vegas Review – Innovation Event Shows How Our World Is Changing

World’s Largest Innovation Event Features Ground-Breaking Technologies, Global Tech Leaders and Entertainment Elite

Drones, virtual reality, automotive advances, headphones, speakers, photographic equipment, and futuristic homes abounded at CES® 2016. The annual CES® gathering was held in Las Vegas January 6 – 9, 2016. More than 170,000 people attended this huge expo which was housed in the Las Vegas Convention Center, Sands Convention Center, and portions of multiple strip hotels. The exhibits are a techie's Nirvana.

The world's largest innovation event shined a spotlight on innovation that will transform our world with 3,887 exhibiting companies showcasing ground-breaking technologies, and launching some 20,000 new products at the event.CES® 2016, the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, brought together tech and other business leaders from around the world, policymakers and Hollywood’s foremost influencers for a star-studded event that brought the next-generation of innovation to the global stage. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)TM, formerly the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, CES® 2016 ran January 6-9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“CES® 2016 marked the largest unveiling of game-changing innovation in the world, with the largest show floor – more than 2.47 million net square feet – in CES® history,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association. “The products that debuted at CES® will address many of the world’s most pressing problems, making improvements in healthcare, agriculture, transportation, manufacturing, entertainment, retail and beyond, while creating new markets, new opportunities and new jobs.”

There are demonstrations, exhibits, samples, seminars, celebrities, speeches, conferences, entertainment. Above all, it is a meeting place for those in the industry. The buyers meet the sellers, The manufacturers promote their products by demonstrating their innovations.

How does one identify with so large an event and so much technology that is far beyond the average person. I was able to spend two days at CES®, but honestly, it isn't nearly enough. This article will give you an overview and a general feel for some of the new technology that surrounded convention goers. Many of the new products illustrated how our world is changing. Keep in mind that this writer considers herself to be a technological dinosaur.

There were exhibits presenting drones throughout the show. Drones were once a novelty, but are now finding many commercial applications such as package delivery

Personal virtual reality goggles were a popular item. Many of the major companies such as Samsung were showing off their latest goggles. Viewers could just put them on and see the world in new ways

Many automotive companies brought their cars. Most new autos are now available with WiFI. You can sit in your car and check out the appliances in your house - as long as you are not driving

The home is certainly becoming digital. Refrigerators are being built with a myriad of temperature controls and even internal TV monitors. Wired homeowners can look on their smart phones and see the color of the broccoli in their refrigerators

The latest televisions, cameras, headsets, etc were all there as well. You could spend many days browsing the displays, talking to the experts, and wishing you could purchase many of the items on display. The list of interesting gadgets and accessories was endless - wish I had more time to learn more. I will certainly plan to go back next year and spend as much time as possible learning more about today and tomorrow's consumer electronic products.

I felt I learned a great deal about the future of consumer products of the future and look forward to spending more time at the show next year when it returns to Las Vegas from January 5-8, 2017
